ANRHA
A Digital Documentation Platform on Haiti
The Digital Archives of the Haitian Revolution (ANRHA) make available online archival materials relating to the French colony of Saint-Domingue, the enslavement of Black people in this colony, and the Haitian Revolution. These archives come from various repositories in Europe and the Americas, and more specifically from French archives.
The aim of our foundation is to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and to the development of research on the history of European colonization and the enslavement of Black people in the Americas, particularly in Saint-Domingue (now Haiti), by facilitating access for researchers—regardless of where they are based in the world—to thousands of manuscript and printed documents.
ANRHA also provides students and researchers with maps, plans, photographs, engravings, and databases. To explore the historical archival collections and series available online, please consult the “Inventories” dropdown menu.

The following series and record groups from the French National Archives have been digitized by ANRHA and are either already available on the platform or currently being processed for online publication : Series AF, C, CC, DXXV, and CC9. In addition, part of the Abbé Grégoire Papers, preserved by the Carnot family, has been digitized by ANRHA and is available on our platform as the Carnot Private Collection. This collection comprises more than 4,000 pages of archival materials.
The Church, Colonialism, and Slavery
Given the importance of religion in the establishment and consolidation of colonial settlements, ANRHA seeks to bring together in a single repository all archival materials available on the platform relating to this topic.
Documents transcriptions
ANRHA provides a document transcription service in multiple languages. Transcription requests are processed as promptly as possible following approval of the quotation.
